We have our own little sunflower field on one side of the new garden plot. The honeybees and bumblebees adore it, and I’m certain the birds will enjoy the seeds soon. I’ll be a little sad when they’re gone. I planted this little sunflower field with only black oil sunflower seed from my bird-feeding stash! Soak the seeds overnight just prior to planting and keep the newly planted seeds watered daily. Pretty cheap seed - it worked great!

It's beautiful!! I should do that next year for the chickens - they love the Fall when it's time to clean-up the garden and eat the sunflowers. :-)
Oooh, and a lovely zoom shot into the bee! What do you use to film your movies?
that's really awesome. we have volunteers growing along the pond where i had scattered bird seed in previous years. i like having them, too.
WOW how pretty are those! What a ray of sunshine. Some day maybe I will remember to plant some.
I'm so glad you posted this because sunflowers are such happy plants to view. They make me smile when I see them.
Love your field of gold! Great capture of the bee, too.
They are gorgeous and what a great capture of the little bee on the flower. Enjoyed your video.
Lovely Tammy!
Good Tuesday Morning in Missouri!!!
Hi Tammy - I have been glued to your banner photo just sitting and staring. Sunflowers are my very favorite! I grew some this year, too, but my goodness, you've got a BUNCH! That birdseed did great! I'll have to remember that when I'm look for sunflower seeds next year!
Love this idea and your video, fantastic! What fun music to go with it too. Really like your new header and will file this idea away for next year. Thanks for sharing :)
So pretty!!! and I think it's funny that the ad for asthma showed up during the video...
I LOVE your new banner! I think sunflowers are the definition of happy. I planted some in our garden this year also (twice!) but some critters kept eating them as soon as they sprouted -- rabbits, I think. First year in 4 years we've had any critter problems at all. So I ended up with 5 or 6 sunflowers actually growing. Next year is another year {for fences} and I will have to try your bird seed idea. :-)
Wow those are pretty! I didn't grow many sunflowers this year. You've inspired me to grow more next year!
I am so impressed! I LOVE your new banner, and your video is so cool!!!!! I pray that you have a blessed day my Missouri friend :0!!!
Loved the sun flowers and the music, was that your fiddler player playing? Thanks for the tip on soaking the seeds overnight.
Blessings.
Sue
