Grandma Annie Mae

Thanks so much, Blogger Friends, for your kind words and prayers. My beloved Grandma Annie Mae left this world yesterday morning, peacefully, and in the company of loved ones. This short video was made at her 97th birthday party last October (by cousin Susan). I think at that time we knew that we wouldn’t have her long, but she remained strong in her faith and mind right up to the end.

Grandma’s Advice for a Long Life

Hugs to all...

Oh, Tammy! I'm so sorry for your loss. But happy for her to be in her Savior's arms! Very bittersweet, I know; lost my mother 7 years ago and my heart aches just to be with her at times. But occasionally, God has given me a dream where she and I spent the entire day together just doing stuff and when I woke up, I felt as if I had really spent a day with her! Someday, I'll get to spend eternity with her and others who have gone before.

I just had to comment on the nails... my grandmother was so careful to keep her nails painted but in the hospital they must have made her take it off to monitor her vitals or something. When she passed, we had her nails painted; she would have been pleased as punch.

My Nana is now in assisted living. At age 89, she was dignosed with Alzheimers two years ago. But, I am grateful. Grateful to still have her even though her memory is failing.
When it does come time for her to leave, I know she will be with your Grandmother! And they will sit in heaven & share stories of us!
May you have comfort in this time, Tammy.
God Bless, misha

Oh Tammy, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. It's so hard to say good bye, even when we know it's just for a short time. I read the following quote at my dad's funeral. It comforted him and I when my grandparents passed away. I hope it brings you some comfort too.

Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything remains exactly as it was. I am I, and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is absolute and unbroken continuity. What is this death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just round the corner. All is well.

Big hugs to you my friend,
Andrea

Hi! I'm new to your blog - came over because of a recommendation from Patti T, one of your friends. I am going to build a chicken coop and keep chickens for the first time ever, and I've been looking for good advice. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your grandmother - and was so touched by your hand photos - there isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss my grandmother dearly.

I am going to email you a touched up photo of your "hands"... I wish I had thought of this before my grandmother was no longer with us. I hope you don't mind, Patti will tell you I'm not a stalker..lol..
