Purple Martins 2012

We had no tenants last year, but this year.. YES! The young ‘uns have been flying for a few days now. Another amazing thing about the 100+ temps is that it seems they have all survived and thrived through this. Earlier this week I hung out with them awhile (they fussed a little.. but not too much).

Love them!

P.S. The answer to yesterday’s Crusty Rusty Mystery Item: Sorghum Mill or Sorghum Mill Press… depending on which side of the river you were born ;)

Those ghost posting blog times are great!
Wish we had Martins, I can never get BT interested in them.

Are those birds the ones that give natural mosquito control? I will have to look into that.

My all time favorite bird- love the martins! Ours are doing well in this heat also.

I have seen a few martins around, but don't have a house up for them. May have to do that!

Time well spent.

Cool! Gotta check out the sorghum press now. My grandma had one at one time and I remember everyone helping out making sorghum one year.

We have Purple Martins this year for the first time in forever. I've loved watching them!

Looks like they are busy.
This has been such a tough summer--weather wise. Even her in the burbs it's tough. We keep praying for rain but nothing yet. So we keep watering and enjoying what we can from the garden.

Good luck and take care!
