Thursday Walkabout: Fog

Most of these pictures over the last few days have a common thread ~ fog.

Icy pond, Mr W’s Old Sawmill trademark, Old Wagon, Bottle tree with Cardinal, Fog across the Hay field, Barn through the fog (parts 1 & 2), Cog from the old sawmill, Crunchy dry Goldenrod. And at center ~ something we all never seem to have enough of: Thyme/Time.

Here’s an update to the mini-journal of random happenings here of 2010:

Weather: Many days of fog and clouds. But the temps have been decent at mid-30’s for the most part. The water buckets for the animals have never completely frozen for the past week, making a.m. and p.m. chores much easier. Thank goodness for small blessings!

Thursday – Late afternoon while loading up the outside wood stove, I found the headless body of a flying squirrel in the yard (I have no idea what happened). Poor little critter...

Friday –A major re-stock of groceries and supplies.

Saturday – Sat evening, Mr W received a cell phone call from a neighbor/friend who had taken his nephews coon hunting. They were lost in the fog. Mr W proceeded slowly down the blacktop in his pickup, honking the horn constantly so the guys could find their way out of the woods. (Only on a Saturday night in Podunk, USA!)  All arrived safely to the road, and made it to their truck. While Mr W rescued the wayward hunters, I made a jewelry gift for a friend. And made a jewelry gift for me. p.s. Mr W and I refuse to allow said neighbor to ever forget about the “lost in the fog” episode. :)

Sunday – Among other miscellaneous tasks, I wormed the donkeys. (BTW, wormer sandwiched between two graham crackers is an easy peasy way to handle this task.)

Monday – We worked with cattle in the a.m. Oh, the mud! In the afternoon and evening, I did some cleaning and a little bit of organizing (it’s a start!).

Wednesday – Mr. W and I took a little trip to my hometown for haircut, visits with our dear former neighbor lady and my 96 year old dear Grandma, lunch with my parents, and a quick visit to the local antique shop. This was day 7 (at least) of fog.

Today we have fog again, and some rain.

How is the weather in your neck of the woods?

Did you find any treasures at the Antique shop? Lost in the fog? That is too funny.
Your week sounds as busy as ours. I so hope I find time to sew before long.
I gotta get adjusted to this style?!?!
Happy rainy Thursday!

Well, we certainly don't have fog, a little sunshine and a little grayness, but warmer temps too. Luckily, the temps drop enough at night to keep the ice nice and smooth on the pond.

Thank goodness for cell phones! : )

Be well! ~Andrea~

The weather here has been rain, high winds and flooding since the weekend. We had our share of fog earlier in the month. I enjoyed your "Lost in the fog" story. :0)

Tammy, weather in our neck of the woods-FOG. Rain too today. I think I can see getting lost in the woods in the heavy fog we have been having. I found Missouri Gal somehow through YOU and have been seeing OsageBluffquilter. Have been thinking we are all close and it would be fun to have a ShoMe State blogger get together! Maybe in Spring, everyone seems so busy but I bet we would have fun! Your photo collage is great, such a collection of different textures. Cool.

Are you my neighbor and I didn't know it? I've lost count of the overcast days. Some fog, some rain, some snow, some of everything, but sunshine. If it wasn't for my trip to the coast last week where they had beautiful weather, I'd begin to believe I'd never see it again. Truthfully, I'm more than grateful for the rain. CA is AlWAYS short of water. But I confess that I will be glad when spring arrives and the sun returns! Couldn't we just spread the rain and clouds over the whole year instead of just one little period every year?

I love the honking in the fog! Makes for some beautiful haunting photos tho huh?!

Wow Tammy, this collage appears to be colder but like you said, thanks goodness for the small blessings in that their water wasn't frozen over! Gee, your Grandma is three years older than my dad!!
Funny, all that honking must of been a big relief for those hunters! At least they were safe. So you wormed your Donkey..so no fuss then? We just spayed our kitty! Anyway, thanks for your delightful update- I really enjoy this! (Greatfully appreciate your visits as well) Hope your weekend is peaceful..all my best, Aloha, Regina-

We are fortunate to have 30's - 40's and somewhat sunny through the weekend. This weekend we'll be de-worming the chickens (de-wormer mixed with Amish oatmeal). Funny how their favorite treats always help the meds go down a little easier.

I think several days ago while we were sleeping we were transported somewhere else because we have had fog at some point in the days forever it seems. What does the sun look like??????

I really should be making dinner right now but, knowing it was Thursday, I had to come see the walkabout! The phog photos (:o)) are simply beautiful. The sawmill trademark is my favorite. But the barn in the fog is so pretty.
You put a smile on my face with the "lost in the fog" story. Not sure how close your neighbors are but if they were in earshot of the honks, they must have wondered what in the world...??? :o)

Love the mosiac!

I can imagine that 'Lost in the fog' tale will be repeated often!

Our weather is hovering around freezing, with rain in the forecast tomorrow. Not good, as this is MN and that rain will lead to ice and trouble.

I don't think I would get a good response to wormer and graham crackers!

I just found your blog and love it. Mostly, I must admit, I LOVE Ruby and Gracie! I have a penchant for donkeys and mules (especially the minis,) and am the proud owner of a 5 yr. old pony mule named Frankie. Come by and visit my blog sometime... I have a few pics of Frankie and his girl Rosie up there. And I have a Weimaraner named Ruby too, (amongst other critters but....)

I like fog now that I live in town. When I lived in Maud...it was a little scary sometimes driving in it and I can totally see getting lost in it. That is a great story. Your photos are beautiful. Sounds like you had a great day on Wednesday! I agree with Rural Rambler...we need a ShowMe Bloggers get together in the Spring.

Have a great weekend.

Glorious pictures as usual. The fog pictures are really moving, I can't quite explain.

The fog story amazes me. I love podunk, USA!

How do you do your collages, yours are always so lovely....especially the barn photos. I bet the fog ate up all your snow...how nice for you, ours is still piling up. Gives rain for Monday!!
I wonder if my donks like graham crackers, that sounds like a good idea. I've been putting their bedtime carrot snack in the food processor and mixing their flax in with water...Emily can be a fussy eater! I enjoy the update of your week!

My Grams will be 95 on Feb 12th. I called her to see how she was doing yesterday. She said she's on the DD plan. I asked what that was she said, "Drugs and Depends Plan" HA HA HA! She's a hoot!
We are very blessed to still have a grand parent/s!!!
